It really is great to have Nash home. He is much brighter and happier. We are keeping him calm and confined so that he does not loosen the surgical mesh from the stomach wall.
So he is getting a couple of hand walks a day. Everytime I take him out to walk him around every one comes to the fence to say HI!
The suture site is totally healed and there is some swelling around the mesh site. Dr P. explained there would always be a bump there but at least now we know it is not a hernia.
I walk Nash in circles around the riding ring. Not exciting but at least it is even, not muddy and we is getting out to stretch is legs. We are not the only ones walking in circles. Piper and Shadow bring up the rear. Sorry kinda fuzzy due to walking and taking pics.

With so many involved with Nash’s fundraiser I figured I would give you the final numbers, so that you can know where we netted out.
The cost of the surgery and post operative care was: $6,430.75
The total amount fund raised was $5,825.00.
The remainder was $605.75 which is being covered under the farm expenses.
Thank you AGAIN to everyone who supported Nash in this journey. WE could not have done this with out your generosity.

One of the first snow falls of the year and where am I? Leading a trial ride with one of my die-hard lesson students. I keep telling them I will give trail rides and lessons for as long as they want them. And to my surprise some of them are still asking for them. Here I am with my 3 layers on the bottom and 5+ layers on top out in a snow shower. It is all about the layers you know. It was very peaceful. One of my favorite sounds is to hear snow falling on the trees. Apple and Cuervo seemed to enjoy themselves too. They had a spring to their step.

Sorry I have been remiss with my updates. I have been contacted by a few followers and friends asking about Nash.
He is doing great. So happy to be home and I am happy to have my boy home. He is going to be stall bound for the first two weeks. So I am giving him 15 min walks a few times a day. He is eating ok. Not finishing his hay, but eating his grain. I heard him cough for the first time today and I noticed his manure was soft. Hopefully it is not anything to worry about. I did take his temperature and it was normal. He is still on the antibiotics which I have to give once a day via intramuscular injection.
Nash is now taking visitors. Stop by the farm to give him some love and take him for a walk.

Nash has continued to keep the fever at bay. He is doing great on the one antibiotic and they are going to take him off the pain meds (Bute) today too! I can pick him up any time after noon tomorrow!

Things are continuing along the positive path, Nash’s temperature remains to be normal. On Saturday they stopped one of the 2 antibiotics that he was receiving via IV. Then on Sunday morning they were please to find the fever didn’t return, they have kept him on the one Antibiotic (Gentamicin). The good news is that if he remains fever free tomorrow they will discuss with me having him come home early next! YES, finally talking about my boy coming home.
Fingers crossed and positive thoughts for Nash. Thanks for all your kind words and support!

Went to see Nash today and finally met Dr Parente. At that point he had been back on the iv antibiotics for 2 days. He said his fever went from 104 last night down to 101 this morning. The lung fluid culture grew gram positive bacteria. So that means he does have pneumonia.
What we still dont know is when he can come home. Dr P. said he has to talk to the specialist to ask his thoughts. Maybe a couple more days.
I have to say Nash didn’t look good. He lost weight and the swelling in his legs was really bad. He didn’t even move to say hi. We went in and petted and brushed him, still he didn’t move. Then as we went to leave he gave us the said eyes. He walked to the door gave me the “don’t leave me look”. Oh my gosh, broke my heart.
Can’t wait to get my boy home!

They shaved his chest for the ultra sound.
Smile Nash!
