My Shadow is here!

So (with some convincing from my friends) I decided it was time to get another dog. I started looking at rescue dogs to keep Piper company and bark when people knock on the door.  After a long search and some disappointment I came across Shadow.  He was at a kill shelter in Ohio. The rescue organization posted him as available for foster. They arranged transport to Center Valley where we (my farm family and I) picked him up.

It was love a first sight for all of us. He was a little nervous and shook up from his long car ride, but was such a good boy. He is already fitting in very well at the farm, he is not at all bothered or nervous around all the farm animals.  Now I am just waiting to see if he will be my little watch dog.

He is truly living up to his name,  follows me around and is my Shadow.

This weekend in pictures.

It is starting to feel like fall! The air is crisp and cool, but unfortunately our days are getting shorter. This weekend was good one on the farm. My Goddaugther sat on Dalton, her second time on a horse. We had a great bon fire in our new fire pit. And Piper went for a ride on Cuervo.

GSF would like to welcome Dalton and Nova to the farm. They are owned by great friends of the farm and we are excited to have them join the farm family.

Our youngest lesson!

This week Heather (the welsh pony) started lessons with our youngest recruit. She is only 4 and a half!  It was a great lesson and she is already exited about next week.

Half day at work then a trail ride. I would say that is a great way to start the long weekend. Have a great one and stay frosty my friends.

Pasture the other half

Ok now we are really done. Thanks to my friends who burnt the remaining logs and separated the stumps. Then thanks to my neighbor’s company who removed the stumps and leveled the land. We finally have a clear pasture, ready for seeding and grass. It its such a relief to have this land clearing project behind me!

Tonka’s First Horse Show

As part of his desensitization training Mitch took Tonka to a horse show.  He did really well getting used to all the horses and people.  He was surrounded by other very calm horses like Dalton, Tony and Henry.  So it turned out to be a very successful day.
