This is how it all began…

I loved horses for as long as I can remember. Maybe this stems from my
parents had a horse and a pony on the property in Miami when I was born.

These pictures are from my first horse show. It was a walk trot class with
3 competitors. Shana Tay is the name of the pony I was riding. She was the
lesson horse at the stables where I used to go once a week. I don’t
actually remember that day, but it looks like I won! I believe I went to a
couple of horse shows. Taking into account the expense and time involved, my
parent said I could have my own horse in the front yard or continue going to
shows. I opted for having my own.

Lets play in the snow!

We got about 4 inches of snow last week. The horses and dogs really seemed to like it. Shadow and Apple insisted in rolling around in it. Then every one got involved in a game of halter tag.

Holiday trail ride.

Casey and Sunbun went out for a trail ride. It was a beautiful sunny day and great to just get out. We even went for a little canter in the back fields. You will have to ask Sunbun what happened after he jumped the first puddle.

Looks like the horses got some of the Christmas Spirit in them.

Or was it too much sugar from the Candy Canes?

Reds on a gate?

Apparently Reds the barn cat so desperately wanted attention he climbed on a gate to get some love.  Strange cat but he is cute and we love him with the rest of our crew.

The Garage is done!

It has been over a year since the stop work request, but after many township meeings and much heartache, we came to a resolution and I have a Garage.

I can’t wait to put the farm equipment in there and finish up the inside.

A Month in Reflection

As we head into the depths of winter we look forward to Christmas. Before I update you on the events of the farm I can’t help think of the event that took place last week in Newtown, CT. I would like to take a short moment to send my heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their childern in that terrible unnecessary tragedy.

My best “student” who has become more of a friend asked me to update the plog.  My work at the real job that pays the bills has exploded into extreme busy-ness so I have be delinquent in my posting duties.

These are the last photos of Lefty right before he left fo this big show. Unfortunately Lefty did not do as well as we had hoped at the show but I am sure it was still an incrediable experience to participate in the event.  Followed by pictures so all the horses in the out enjoying the afternoon.  They all have their ears perked up and were looking at me as I was carring a brightly colored and noisy sign.

We have had a lot of rain lately, which I guess is better than snow, but the pastures are so muddy. The horses don’t seem to mind as they love to roll in it.
