a It always causes raucous . The donkeys were braying and chasing Warlock around. The paints Dalton, Nova and Chex all reconized each others spots.  Over all it went well despite leaving behind a few expected bite marks.

Finally some nice weather on a weekend.  It was a great one with lots of activity because everyone wanted to be out.  Started with a Trail Ride.  Apple, Cuervo and Casey were enjoying the chance to stretch their legs,

Sunday Cuervo decided it was a day of rest and one of our lesson girls took the opportunity to join him.

Not wanting to miss out on the resting part Dalton decided to sunbathe.

Welcome Chex and Warlock

This past Sunday we welcomed 2 new boarders. Chex is the paint. He is Warlock’s dad. Warlock is still only a baby at almost two.

Today was their first day out. For the most part none of the residents cared. Till dinner time when Sunbun decided to tell them who was alpha. All is well they just squealed and ran around a bit.

Finally got out on a trail ride Saturday.  It was.a nice late morning ride. With my favorite lesson/friend, who stuck  with me throughout the winter. So glad my cold is finally gone and I can get out and enjoy nice days.

Speaking of nice days, I took a couple  pictures of a very muddy Nash.  It was a nice evening. I still can’t believe we are getting another snow storm tomorrow.

Switched to pelleted bedding

After much research and deliberation I decided to switch from wood shavings to pellets for bedding. This is a great article that also describes the environmental benefits. http://www.o2compost.com/content/Bedding.htm
Thanks as always to my friends who used their trucks to pick up the 2 tons of pellets. Living up to one of my mottos, go big or go home. :-)

Hump day

Aka…
Wednesday, the middle if the week, getting over that proverbial hill. http://m.urbandictionary.com/#define?term=hump%20day

So the weather finally was not raining and not too cold so Nash and I hung out. He got a good brushing then some horse kisses.

Then we met our friends hanging out in my drive way in front if my house.

After that Nashy decided to play with a paper bag. He such a silly boy!

Goaties

Let me first answer your question. No they are not mine.

Friends of GSF had baby goats over the weekend, so I went to visit. The twin boys were born early saturday morning and I got to see them later that day. They are so cute and both of them fell asleep in my arms.

They will be available for sale in a coupler of months so contact me if your looking for new kids!

Lessons, tours and trims

I have to say I am very impressed by my two lessons that have stuck with me this winter. Saturday I was sick and the riding ring is a  mud bowl. So I had to think out of the box and stay on the driveway. I even had one of them lay down on the job.
I am also exited to say that I showed the farm to a new boarder. So come April all the stalls will be filled.
Lastly our ferrier was here today. He trimmed 7 horses and 2 donkeys. Luckily all the horses feet are doing real good. No problems at all despite the crazy wet weather.

Snow: it sure is pretty

But… I sure am sick of it. Last week we had 2 days of snow and one day of rain. The ground is so saturated you sink 3 inches just walking in the grass. Can’t wait for spring! Maybe it will be a dry one. Haha!

How long is winter?

Not much going on at the farm. It has been too cold to ride or have lessons. But all the animals are doing fine! The horses ran and played in the snow after being cooped up during the storm. Luckily Nemo only dropped 3 inches of snow on us .
