While Apple has great ground manners and is a wonderful trail horse IF he is in the lead, I have come to realize his skills in the riding ring are severly lacking. He just wants to go. So Mitch Metcalf, our new in house trainer, is working with him. We need to find his STOP button. In just a few sessions, Apple has calmed down a lot. I can see great progress already!
After Apple’s training sesson. Mitch decided to see if Apple would make a good trick horse. First we swung up into the saddle with out stirrups. Then he got on him leap frog style. Yup running up behind him and jumping into the saddle. Then he decided to stand up and dance. Apple just stood there the whole time. He is so tolerant. No kids we can’t do this in our next lesson.
