Clearing cedar trees take 26011

After over a year of working in this pile of trees, I feel like we are finally making some progress. At first we tried to chip them but that was too expensive. Then we got the local fire company out here for a big burn, but that was a bust because if the rain. And most recently we have been trying to burn in small piles. So I made a goal of getting it cleared in time for fall pasture grass seeding.

Today my great friends made awesome progress. They really got the pile down and I  can now see an end in sight. Thanks guys.

Day 6, Saturday morning lesson

My 6th day of riding in a row. Apple did not look that enthused to be leaving his hay. It was my usual 10am lesson, which we decided to do as a trail ride instead.

Friday evening, day five.

A great way to end the week and our fifth day of riding in a row. The evening started with a new friend riding for the first time. Of course trusty Cuervo showed him how to do it. Followed by my first bare back trail ride in over twenty years (yes I am showing my age now). Piper came with us, she was a great trail dog, stayed with is the whole time and really enjoyed herself. The ride ended with me capturing Casey at a full gallop.  Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed the evening.

Trail ride day 4

The Trail ride today was Apple and Casey. Apple was not in the mood today.  So as a result seemed extra hyper and left Casey in the dust at a walk.

Trial rides

So our trail rides are road rides, but they are quiet back roads and my horses (except Nash) are almost bomb proof. This week we have gone on a trail ride every evening so far. Casey has gone on every ride. You can see from the pics how good he is looking. He loves the rides and gets in a bit of a gallop when be can. On Monday I rode Apple. While on the ride I took a call about lessons at the farm. Then the gentleman inquired are you on a trail ride right now?  Tuesday was Nash. He did ok but was not fond of the big blue garbage bins. Wednesday was Cuervo. I think he was more interested in getting back for his dinner. But the sunset was beautiful and I can’t think of a better way to end the day!

Farm work

Wow what a week! On Tuesday us farm girls. Finished preparing three back pasture for grazing: picking up the dead branches left over from clearing for the fence line, pulling up the temporary fence, and mowing. This job was then completed on Thursday, including mowing George and Heather's pasture. Then on saturday we decided to clear a trail from the front pasture area to the road. Now when we go on trial rides we do not have to ride on busy Allentown road.  A special thanks goes out to my friends that helped this week. I couldn't do it without you!

Meet Carrie, Mitch’s new project. She is a standard bred born and raised for harness racing. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harness_racing)  Before her big career, she is being trained here for ground manners, and even to ride.  This pics are from Mitch starting to break her, it is the first time she has ever had any one on her back and she did really well.
