This week Heather (the welsh pony) started lessons with our youngest recruit. She is only 4 and a half!  It was a great lesson and she is already exited about next week.

Half day at work then a trail ride. I would say that is a great way to start the long weekend. Have a great one and stay frosty my friends.

Pasture the other half

Ok now we are really done. Thanks to my friends who burnt the remaining logs and separated the stumps. Then thanks to my neighbor’s company who removed the stumps and leveled the land. We finally have a clear pasture, ready for seeding and grass. It its such a relief to have this land clearing project behind me!

Tonka’s First Horse Show

As part of his desensitization training Mitch took Tonka to a horse show.  He did really well getting used to all the horses and people.  He was surrounded by other very calm horses like Dalton, Tony and Henry.  So it turned out to be a very successful day.

It has been about a year in the making but the horses finally got to enjoy the full back pasture last week.  They loved the open space and kicked up their heels a bit just for

I noticed the little grey bantam hen was not laying eggs, until I found her hidden clutch of them behind the nesting box. She chirped one day and gave away her location.  Since she had already started to lay on then I decided to let them hatch.  Thinking there would be a few at most.  Well last week we had 8 chicks hatch!  They are very cute and she is such a good mother hen.  We separated them from the adults by giving them thier own section of the chicken coop.  Last week, I found a home for five of them and decided to keep a few to watch them grow, replace some that we had lost to a fox and not upset mama hen too much by taking all her babies away.
